In February 2012 the West Virginia Human Rights Commission announced it's first ever Fair Housing Poster Contest. The information about this contest was disseminated to as many public and private middle schools as the Commission could find addresses for throughout the state, as well as the county school boards and administrative agencies.
While only one middle school responded by the postmark deadline, three schools in all submitted posters illustrating the theme "Live Free from Discrimination". The winners came from Saints Peter and Paul Middle School in Oak Hill, West Virginia.
